Health and Safety

  • The leader will reconnoitre the route prior to leading the party. We do not require a formal risk assessment, but this identifies any hazards and confirms that the route is suitable

  • The leader will appoint a back marker

  • Nobody will walk in front of the leader or behind the back marker without their permission

  • If you are unwell or struggling during a walk please ensure that the leader knows. Do not suffer in silence. If you need to leave the walk the leader will make appropriate arrangements.

  • Follow the country code

  • In all matters the leader’s decision is final.

Cancellation

Please note: most walks start at 10.00am from the published start point.  Non-members should contact the Walks Secretary for more information. In the case of inclement weather members are usually contacted by email the day before the walk, but it may be a phone call, WhatsApp or text message on the day of the walk.  It is the decision of the leader whether the walk takes place as most of us find no pleasure in walking in rain all day.  At any time during the walk the leader may vary/curtail the walk, if in his/her opinion, it is unsafe or undesirable to continue. His/her decision is final.
